About

Salutations to all!
My name is Mathieu Groulx but I usually go under the nickname of Zasta. It has been given to me coincidently many years ago and I later discovered that it means hand in some old eastern Iranian language called the Avestan language. Who cares, just call me Zasta.
I am a musician, web designer, yoga instructor, drum coach and I recently decided to give blogging a shot. Zenhappens is my first step into the blogosphere.
Zen Happens is about you, me, reality, zen, health, yoga, life-hacking, balanced living, learning new things, sharing them, being in the here and now, self-inquiry, meditation. It’s also about you and me having a conversation and making this blog a platform for improvement, wisdom, peace and who knows what.
More About Me and this Blog
As I mentioned before, I’m a musician. I am the drummer/backup singer for a band called The Gods of Now. Talk about being in the here and now! We are soon to release our first self title album on Moonbabe Records in fall 2008.
As a web designer, I work at Spyre Studios, along with Jon Phillips, also owner of Freelance Folder. We just started working together and we already have great feedback and plenty of work on our plates!
I also recently started offering yoga classes. Yoga is now an integral part of my life and teaching it is just a natural next step since I already have 6 years of mentoring experience as a drum coach. Teaching yoga is a great way for me to give back in life.
Now I add blogging on top of that. Isn’t all that enough?
Well, in all these wonderful mediums of expression and creativity, I found that there was one thing missing;
a sharing platform.
One of my mottos is :
“Share what you know, learn what you don’t”.
So my intention with this blog is offer you my reality. It doesn’t make it true, false, right or wrong. It only makes it my reality. As the buddha said :
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.
Buddha
Thus, it may happen that I will invite you to question what you think is reality, to question others, yourself, what you read, what you believe in, to question authority, your authority, my authority amongst other things. Of course, all that is subject to be questioned.
So welcome to Zen Happens! Grab your favorite meditation cushion, green tea and whatever other cheesy zen stuff you can think of, and please, enjoy your stay!
Zasta
